Powder Coating Cases

I did a search and didn't find much.

I'm looking for opinions from people who have done this or or have tried.

I know general theory says you powder coat your case you are going to hold more heat in.

I can see how this would effect the ped when just sitting still, say like at a stop light, but what about in running conditions.

How much of a difference do you think it actually makes?

just wondering.

Re: Powder Coating Cases

no matter at all

cases dont get all that hot anyway

Re: Powder Coating Cases

Well then What about top end ect?

Re: Powder Coating Cases

Moped Game Sally Struthers /

youre over thinking it.

Re: Powder Coating Cases

It's just a moped. Coat that shit. I just did my cases and they look sexy. No problems at all.

Re: Powder Coating Cases

I thought I was over thinking it , I want everything on my engine blacked out and had read people being like it'll over heat....

thanks.

Re: Powder Coating Cases

make sure you clean them really good, first time i did it i was lazy and didnt and its flaking off. also if your going to use a textured powder cook them all at the same time, i used a wrinkle black finish and cooked them one at a time in a small oven and each piece came out with different amounts of wrinkle from being in for slightly different amounts of time im guessing.

Re: Powder Coating Cases

Don't powder a cylinder man! But some nice black cases would look nice, wish I could powder my 30 pack cases...

Re: Powder Coating Cases

Search the gen forum. I think Nash or A-ko just did his E-50 case white and can do others also for cheap if you ask him.

Re: Powder Coating Cases

yeah i saw the white post.

I'm gonna do my entire thing black.

have everything I need to do it.

was basically asking if any part would get to hot.

(obviously I shouldn't sit around forever idleing doing nothing.)

Re: Powder Coating Cases

actually that was me that did the white e-50.......... i'd be happy to do your case black provided its not in terrible condition for little more than the cost of some black paint and shipping... lemme know!

Re: Powder Coating Cases

oh shit didn't even read it. YEAH DO IT! cases don't get all that hot, most of the heat is in the cylinder and head, plus its a moped like somebody already said. GO FOR IT you will not regret it!

Re: Powder Coating Cases

Actually, black cylinder and head will run cooler, because the color black, while it absorbs more heat, dissipates heat faster than lighter colors. That's why most water cooled engine radiators are black.

Re: Powder Coating Cases

NICE! yeah the thing is ya gotta get special hitemp powders for that shit or it will just burn / flake off and will look like the header of every black pipe ever

Re: Powder Coating Cases

Thanks for the offer, however I will get some ceramic powder coat and do it myself. I managed to paint my moped with single stage and it looks rad, so I bought powder coating supplies to save money.

Re: Powder Coating Cases

if you want to paint your cylinder and head black get some rusto grill paint its not as nice as powder but its cheap easy and stands up to heat well

Re: Powder Coating Cases

but i have powder already?? haha

Re: Powder Coating Cases

Re: Powder Coating Cases

Yeah, crappy cell pic. Maybe I'll bring my good camera to the shop and take pics tonight. The cases are fresh from the oven in that pic too, with all the tape, etc on them.
