motobecane ninja g3 - upjet?

Sup everyone! I just installed a ninja g3 on my motobecane, replacing the stock exhaust, and I noticed that the performance got a bit worse, especially in the low/mid end.

I am running a ported 50cc with dellorto 15/15 #64 jet/filter, 2 balls/variator, head gasket. With this setup, sans head gasket, I was able to hit almost 40. Now I can barely stay around 30.

Would adding the g3 exhaust justify upjetting? Also the head gasket probably ruins performance too. Any suggestions?

thanks!

nah. the G3 is just made for higher RPMs than you can get stock. go back to your stock pipe and only use the G3 with a kit.

Re: motobecane ninja g3 - upjet?

Cool, I'll probably install that 70cc kit and take it from there, was curious how much of a difference the g3 makes on a stock cylider. I agree with running the stock muffler on a 50cc cylinder, probably better.

Re: motobecane ninja g3 - upjet?

ummmm, what? G3 is great with stock setups, especially if they're ported. It worked great for Elliot. you probably do just have to tune it in a bit.

You can pull 9500 rpms out of a stock cylinder, so thats not an issue.

Re: motobecane ninja g3 - upjet?

hmm. on my stock ported setup the g3 was a bust on anything less than really long straightaways. never tried it with my variator upgrade, but i found the improvement, if anything, to be negligeble. was running a 66 on a 15/15 sha, decked head, ported cylinder, etc.

Re: motobecane ninja g3 - upjet?

The decked head probably makes a huge difference. I noticed a big performance improvement in the past when I took the head gasket out. That's definetly on my list to do.

Re: motobecane ninja g3 - upjet?

Did you take the restrictor out of the back?

Re: motobecane ninja g3 - upjet?

Yeah, grinded that washer thing out.

Re: motobecane ninja g3 - upjet?

Worked on this tonight, and realized I had a 60 jet in there, so after a few different sizes, I upjetted to a 73 and no air filter on the dellorto 15/15. On straight runs, I hit around 35 and no four stroking. The pipe sounds nice too.

Later this week, I'll install that parmakit 70cc, but I wanted to do some benchmarks first, for later comparison.
