sachs 505/1d jetting issues. why do you 4 stroke!?

i just got my g3 toppin out @ the 40+ range but when im running wide, i will 4 stroke every so often. im up jet to 62 on the infamous square bing, and i got an aftrmkt chamber n a 40 tooth rear. bored out the airbox cause it ran so good without any air restriction.... it seems to run better than it ever has but, it pop in and out of 4 strokery at top end. ill choke a it a lil to see if that helps but that hasnt seemed to do anything. help? anyone? i tried the 60 jet as well... it 4stroked hard. even with o air restriction... got the best speed on the 62.

four stroking is a sign of a fuel rich mixture. choking or restricting air exaggerates this.

is that a square bing carb youre using? if so, how do you have those size jets?

bj @ handybikes. ill get you some or you can call em direct. 6 buks a pop tho. so if my 4 stroke issue is a rich mix, then just more airflo in.... shouldnt be a problem. more holes in the airbox, it already looks like swiss chz. plus, i only have a custom made airfilter thats made of my xs nylons and some filter wadding i lifted from the autoparts store....... i can adjust! i think down jetting wont do much.... but when i got some time ill experiment again.

oooooook... i dont need any jets... i just didn't know that square bing jets came in sizes bigger than 58... but if anyone carried some, BJ would..

If they were jets intended for round bings... i was going to mention that perhaps the jets were not screwed in properly... but yeah... otherwise i'd still recommend a downjet.

I put a pipe on a g3 and took off the air box and it was still rich with a 58 jet. Try your 58 again. you wont sieze that stock jug.

my 58 jet was not yielding near enough performance. no 4 stroke but no speed. plus i plug chopped and im running right. and its only a little 4 strokerey. plus i took off the airbox and ran open to lean out and it didnt like that at all.

You need to get a 14 or 15mm round bing. It will fit on your intake and you will have better tuning capabilities

i finnaly gave into the downjet... it was spraying gas into the airbox, and boggoing in the mids.... dropped to the 60jet, scrapped the homemade filter and went to just pantyhoze and the swiss chz airbox and pow, no 4 stroke, no bogging, and more speed. and i finnally got my headlight to work! no more ridin dirty, just ridin purty.

what about the header size? It makes a huge change on the 5051d.. I have a couple here.. one is the 5051DS single ring sachs motor.. i also have an autisia on one. you can rotate the intake forward and put on a borde out SHA 14.12 to 14mm and run about a 65 jet (64cc bike)

ive got the 49cc jug. as far as i know i have the good(non restricted) header. i dont have to rotate the intake, i got a trick to make rizers outa masonite. plus i think a sha will fit, just real snug. then i can still keep shit under the side covers. lookin into the bigger carb tho, fo sho. plus the xtra tuning ability. its rainy today and its runnin sluggish like the airs too thick or something.

haha, sometimes it's hard having a sachs and wanting to go fast... giving into the downjet is not the easiest thing to do.. I had experiences with that as well.

what kind of exhaust do you have?

Straight up I made this same post last year. I will tell you right now that one of my problems is I had no ring to speak of anymore. Good old 505 1/d compression kept me going, but it messed with my fuel mixture. But yeah, I would recomend a bigger carb. Apparently all the euro kids use the 15 amals for those because they fit right and have 2 screws and use del jets and so on and so forth. I have one but my g3 had a heart attack so I have to perform major surgery on her.

i got the stock header on a jamerouqai expansion chamber. 30 beans off treats, and its runnin good.. whadaya mean no ring... pistons? im gettin this chunky slip in my mids.... its gotta be the clutch. how do you fix? anyone? (preferably cheap)

Well pretty much I bought a g3 that was a complete basket case, seized, no throttle, etc. Anyway, I had to free the piston, and since the sachs doesn't have a head I just used a breaker bar on the flywheel and a ton of pb blaster. pretty much it ran for a while, but the clutch was stuck so it couldn't idle, until I freed that too, then the clutch was real slippy, but it ran until there was a trouble in the case and when I took the cylinder off the rings were totally trashed so I had almost no compression and I think that made me four stroke hard. Loose the air box for sure, you loose your choke, but its worth it. Get like a uni pod or something, and I am with the other guys when they say get a bing or a dellorto or an amal for it, it will make your life a lot easier and ones can be had for cheap. Sachs jets are just too hard to get and if you buy like 5 of them you could have just bought a different carb for the same price.

Fix it again, it still leaks.

Change out pipe for g3 pipe that has bigger header

now im leakin tranny from my pedal crank. is it worth it to repair or, say f it and just keep toppin it off? i just fear burnin that clutch up.... wheres the cheap carb? i been lookin.... oh well... im tryin to flip a few peds for some extra scratch.... maybe one will turn up. yeah the jets are a pain... but i cant complain too much about the ole square bing.... its done me ok so far..... yeah, i dont need the choke tho. never use it. i should just be rid of it, but without that box... mines so fn loud. my neighbors i think are already annoyed.
