E50 case matching top and bottom

i just noticed the 2 engine halved i picked weren't the matched set and the back end of the xfers do not match up. im opening it up to a metra anyway, but does anyone know if a random top half and random bottom half bolt together for a perfect seal? or should i really try to hunt down the matching pairs?

They could seal up properly. Probably won't though.

Re: E50 case matching top and bottom

yea its hard to say, they look like they will.. i guess as good as the next one.. just hard to say without bolting it down.

hopefully someone's bolted non matching pieces together..

Re: E50 case matching top and bottom

Jason, it's not something you are going to be able to look at and just tell it's going to work. Kind of like you aren't really going to be able to look at a head that you hand milled and tell for sure it's totally flat and going to seal.

You have a TON of motors around, why risk it? Just use a matched set.

Re: E50 case matching top and bottom

for one of these cases that wont be an option. i blew the top of the case up, crank shot right through it. haha, the rest of the engines are all halved and mix matched.. ill find a matched pair i was just trying to avoid it.. theres so far 3-4 different castings ive seen, and the one matched case i did see had a lot of leak space (not bolted down) but im almost 100% positive now that it wouldnt matter a great deal once bolted down the aluminum will flex and fill in all the space. plus the yama bond...

but i am still looking to play it safe and matching the cases..
