A35 Boyesen Reed Assembly

Goal: Put Boyesen two-stage reeds on the old style reed plate. Which I just bought new from treats. Its hard plastic, so I'm assuming the concerns about rubber distortion don't apply to me. Right?

I've read the instructions and understand the order, I just want to make sure I'm not missing something. Mainly because if I follow the instructions there is nothing to thread the screws into since it says to ditch the OG reed stop.

So my questions are twofold. If not the reed stop, what am I supposed to thread the screws into? And was this kit supposed to come with longer screws? Or am I just supposed to go get my own?

Anyone else put a set these together?

Ok, you get two screw plates with the kit (black and blue I think). Only one of those is for your setup, the other one throw away. Also your metal reed stop is not getting put back on. The way they work is: the reed with holes it it goes on the bottom, the solid reed goes on top of it then the plate. Use locktite on the screws and make sure everything is centered. Put the plate on and check if the reeds can open and arent getting stuck. Then go out and rip it up. (read the instructions for exactly which bottom reed you use, only one of them is getting bolted up and Im pretty sure its the harder one)

What exactly am I threading the screws into? That is my main question. The blue plate is not threaded. Am I supposed to use nuts?

For the record, I contacted Boyesen and they told me to keep the original reed stops since they were the only thing to thread the screws into. The installation order is exactly the same and the blue spacer is still used between the reeds and the reedstop. If you have the new hard plastic block with the older spacing from treats you can use the same side of the block the original reeds were on.

"to assemble the reeds, you ditch everything but the original screws and use all the pieces shown below except one of the reed stops (they have different bolt patterns so only one will work). It is not necessary to use the og reed stops. The thickest reed with square windows goes on the bottom, then the reed with rounded windows, then the reed flap then the reed stop, then pop in the screws. If the reeds don't lie perfectly flat try flipping them over until you get everything perfect o."

Yeah, thats what the instructions say. And they're wrong. If you ditch everything but the original screws there is nothing to thread the screws into. This has all been covered already, and I posted what Boyesen told me. So why repeat the incorrect instructions?

So after running it around for a bit I have to say that the Boyesen reeds smoothed out the throttle response quite a bit. Unfortunately I haven't GPS'ed it yet, and the readings I have from before the installation aren't at top speed. Of course when I went in there to do the swap I found that I had a single set of carbon fiber reeds in there on a metal block. Are the stock reeds on a 04 Sprint LX metal? Because given the state of the bike when I got it, I seriously doubt there was any attempt at tweaking it.

ditch everything except the screws and the square piece with the two threaded holes in it. then follow the rest of the instructions.

i got these for my a35'd e50. im stoked to see what they do.

The stock reeds are fiber.
