Tomos A35 performance without kitting

ok, so i dont want to kit the tomos just yet, and ive done searches on here (before anyone says anything) and id like to know some tricks to get a little more out of the standard setup. I have a biturbo (it did get me a lot faster, tho not 55) and its had the jet drilled (to what I dont know, Mr. Moped is a god) plus a better spark plug. ive gpsed around 45 on a nice warm day, and would like to massage the engine before i went to kitting.

i was looking at treatland, would better blocks & reeds make a huge difference? and would that warrant jetting? (i know most everything else does. i also still have my airbox and filter still.)

between the estoril and the homoet which is better? and would the boss pipe for puch fit up?

i have a few more questions, but those can wait

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

keep the biturbo, smaller rearspocketXbigger front sprockets, fabricate a intake manifold or buy the straitshot intake and move your carb, you can port out the intake to fit a 4 pedal reed cage, bigger carb, advance the timing.

now goo!

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

well the biturbo is kinda falling apart, had the cant start to fall off, so i used an amp can and 2 hose clamps to "fix" it. works and looks kinda neat. id really like to get some launch speed, it doesnt do shit till it hits second/20 mph. but im a big guy and want to keep the top end if not increase it some. i know sprockets do weird thing (increase top, decrease take off & vice versa). ive got a 22 rear i think, so blah.

thanks steve!

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

45 is pretty fast, i would say 1st advance the timing all the way. that should make it perform better all around.

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

suggestions on how? funny thing tho....when i bought it apparently the original dealer had put motor oil in the trans case. fun times.

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

allo?

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

that really doesnt do much for me, since im not going to port it. i will however smooth some trasnfers a tad (more like debur) but thats it. what im looking for is hopefully the best exhaust for a35's, and maybe to open the airbox up some. i really want to get some off the line power.

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

I rode my friends pinto and he had a proma circuit pipe and its still pretty slow off the jump,(stock E50) it doesnt seem to hit until 15-20mph and its geared low. I know its a puch but same principle.

I say go with the tomos tecno circuit, but a kit im proves take off significantly!

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

Yeah man, Get rid of the stock airbox. I ditched mine and the difference was such a nice surprise. Don't get me wrong, you need an airfilter, but like a uni pod or something along those lines. I am switching from my biturbo which is also falling apart surprise surprise and I am going for an estoril, because its the all around pipe, the homoet is a top speed pipe.

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

ok, so estoril it may be., but will there be any pedal issues? also, could you give me a rough guess as to the jet id need since the one i have is drilled and i have no clue?

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

one last dumb question....what kind of carb is it? just so i can order the right shit from treats...

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

I just ordered the estoril for my LX putting it on this weekend..got some 60+ jets as well..prolly just gonna roll w/ that and remove stock airbox for now..i've heard mixed things about pedal clearance so i'll just have to see for myself when it gets here. I'll post up about it but i won't have anything to compare it to because previous owner ran it with NO EXHAUST!

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

ok, so im at about a 58 jet, so maybe a 60 for no airbox? im going to order 59 60 61 to be sure,

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

I've just started using the estoril and I had to make a new bracket to make mine fit. You might have to drill a new hole in the exhaust bracket. Or it might bolt right on.

You don't know what kind of card you have? It's most likely the dell 14/12

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

i had an idea of the carb, but i thought it was 14/14 for some reason, its 14/12. is there any pedal clearance issues?

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

I installed a techno estoril on my Sprint about 2 weeks ago. there were minor probs with the bracket and pedals..If you want to see I can post some pics..

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

please do. im just trying to squeeze what i can without having to go to a 64cc kit.

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

Here's the pictures, tell me if it don't come out, I'll do it again.

The exhaust bracket didn't mout up so I drilled a new hole and bent the bracket towards the pipe, then bent the ped bracket up and in and it fit perfect.

My clearance on my pedals is kind of close. I bent them a little and ground down the inside edge of the arm now I have like a 1mm clearance.

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

go w/ the estriol. bad ass pipe... great for low,mid and high. it compleatly changed my maxi from slow to very fast..(its kitted also)

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

im gonna have to high temp paint it if i do!

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

Definately some high temp paint. I'm burning off the clear coat first before I paint it.

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

hey i really need a techno estroil anyone have one they will sell?

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

I'm running a 59 jet in my A35 with no air cleaner other than the screens. It's still a little rich, I just ordered a 56, 57 and 58 from treats. I think the 58 will be the ticket.

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

but do you have the stock pipe?

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

i didn't read all of the responses, but make or find a big intake that matches a carb and you'll be rippin for days.

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

I'm running a jamarcol pipe at the moment, but have a Bi-turbo on the way. Will post again when I've got it on. The 59 jet with no airbox and the jamarcol pipe still runs a little rich. Don't know how the Bi-turbo will change that.

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

i just threw a new air filter on my 14.12 SHA, and now its having trouble starting, but it has a little more high end. oh, and its taking forever to get to that speed.

i'm assuming i just need a bigger jet.... they're on the way. so is the biturbo.

am i gonna be okay?

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

Unless you ride in a really dusty environment, I'd ditch the air filter and use the screens that are standard on the 14:12. If you're having trouble starting, then you're going the wrong way. The Bi-turbo should help. The more air you can get in, the better off you are (along with the proper jet).

Re: Tomos A35 performance without kitting

welll i had a tiny one on there before with the rubber boot and it started up quick and everything went well

now it still starts up quick but it dies fast, i think if i took it off, it would be even worse

and i dont live in like, the desert where sand and armadillos are gonna get in my carb, but it was just winter and the trucks go NUTS putting sand down on the snow, and that stuff kicks up like crazy. but either way, the new parts come soon. so that should be the cure
