V2-Polini

I got the Polini on the V2 tonight. To late (and cold) for any GPSing. Shane took it down the road and thought low to mid 50's.

I took a short spin and was happy. Very smooth compared to V1.

I did have to hack on the jug at the base to get it to seat all the way.

Re: V2-Polini

was the sleeve too long?

Re: V2-Polini

What pipe?

Re: V2-Polini

mamba

Re: V2-Polini

hi mike!!!

Re: V2-Polini

No, it was to wide in the transfers to fit down between the case. Some careful die grinder work and it fit.

Re: V2-Polini

Have you tuned the variator at all?

Re: V2-Polini

I haven't played with the variator yet. I don't know that anyone has any experience with V2 variators yet. I want to get some "feel it out" miles on it before I start "fine tuning" anything, and it;s just to cold for that yet.

I put my first soft seize on that Polini last year in cold weather.

Re: V2-Polini

HI Peter!

Re: V2-Polini

While running my route tonight, it dawned on me... I didn't re-jet when I put the Polini on. It still had about a 56 jet in it. Going up to the 68 again should help a little...duh!

Re: V2-Polini

it probably wont get faster, just safer.

bikes always run best right before they blow up

Re: V2-Polini

56 to 68. It will probably get way faster. Lean is only good when it is a step or two. This is 12 jet sizes. Best of luck Jon, don't blow it up.

Re: V2-Polini

I heard Athena used to make an aluminium 80 kit for V1. Imagine that!

Re: V2-Polini

Pretty rare kit, there around. Just look acress thee pond.

Re: V2-Polini

Ed, you got that Minarelli pipe yet?

Re: V2-Polini

all hail athena!

Re: V2-Polini

Can you post a picture of the grinding you did?

Re: V2-Polini

I'll try and get some this weekend. It'll be obvious when you put the jug on. :-)

Re: V2-Polini

i guess what i'm wondering is was the base of the cylinder too wide, or was it just the outside of the tranfers?

Re: V2-Polini

Mostly the transfers, the base was OK.

So I broke down and did it... I had to grid down the outside of the transfers like Jon said, especially the transfer on the right side of the cylinder (forward looking aft).

Minarelli V2

75cc Polini Minarelli Kit

Dellorto 15.15 SHA

Rad new air filter that actually fits an SHA!

New variatior belt

Puch Leo Vince exhaust.

Blue fuel line for bonus points

Haven't tuned it yet. Slapped an 80 jet in the carb and started it. Chaecked for airleaks and then took it for a spin down the block and back. The low-end power is insane with this kit/engine combo. the bike literally jumps when you crak the throttle!

Re: V2 Polini II - Electric Boogaloo (pics)

your ped is amazingly clean

Re: V2 Polini II - Electric Boogaloo (pics)

ok i want a v2!

Re: V2 Polini II - Electric Boogaloo (pics)

Re: V2-Polini-Gearing

I guess it's time to figure out the gearing for this thing. I am currently at 14x32. Plenty of low end torque, but only about 40mph WOT, and it turning mega RPMs in the process.

I'm gonna try my 22 on the rear.

Re: V2-Polini-Gearing

I would really like to see a picture of the important side of the C2 motor.

Re: V2-Polini-Gearing

this side?
