I've used launch lever for almost a year now and have never noticed in significant shredding or any increased wear and tear of my belt. It's also not really a good excuse to tune out your variator. Even the stock variator can be tuned if you buy the Malossi variotop weights. The screws and the weights will work on the stock arms.
