i have a 2000ish or so tomos top tank. so do performance exhaust really do anything to help performance of the moped? I have seen a lot of different brands out there, is one better than the other? Some say that you will need an after market kickstand, is this true?
Yes, Yes, and Depends. Do a search on each one of these topics in this forum and you'll have more information than you know what to do with. Also go to the Wiki and look up how expansion chambers work and it will all make sense.
Performance exhaust is the one upgrade that will give a huge difference by itself. There are many out there that are specific to what you are looking for. Are you looking for a stronger low end, mid range or top end? Or an all around pipe? The pipes that require kickstand removal are usually the extreme performance pipes, but most of them are straight up bolt ons with no other mods to your bike (other than jetting). I'm looking for speed i guess without exceding the 50cc law here in virginia. My tomos does 30 now, but the law says i can do 35, what pipe would you suggest without a kick stand mod?
any pipe will get you to 35 :S i would weld up the cheapest pipe you can find , or get a used one. but i am cheap and have access to a welder. try treats hq u should have an a35 motor. (some one want to correct that it is a 1/3 chance)
you can change the gearing on the tomos to hit 35.
Matching the right expansion chamber to your motor will net you a HUGE performance boost alone, even better results if you tune the rest of your bike to match.
