ziptie a hair dryer to your bike, pointed at the variator where the belt first contacts it. you'll need a reeeaaallly long extension cord. :)
side covers do help. fabricate some.
Depends on the belt trying switching it out. Some belts will slip but catch hard and others will slip and slowly engage, at least you won't have the breaking shit sudden jerk of acceleration. Part of my choices when it comes to belt is toward the wet weather side of things up in seattle. What belt did you have on the bike?

i just took the belt off. stopped using it entirely.

The stock moby setup with the side covers and variator cover seemed to work pretty well in keeping the belt, or at most the variator somewhat dry.
side covers = plastic splinter leg death in an accident. at least on a 103. no thanks.

I have a mud flap thing on my front fender. That combined with the normal variator cover and side plates keep it OK.
all that stuff makes me go at least 7 mph slower.

yeah, go for the side panels option. its your best bet other than that.
i like riding my bike in the rain, it keeps you warmer cause youre gonna get wet either way, so atleast youre exercising.
i have extra side panels by the way, not sure if i want to keep em or not.
I would think pedals protect your side panels in a wreck

French bikes just fail in the rain.
I find that once i'm going, the belt dries out nicely. I just have to be light on the throttle while taking off from a stop. When running the variator cover, it helps marginally. that thing really doesn't do anything though.

akpasta, you are wrong. i have crashed enough times to say this with certainty, and if your legs are on the pedals and smashed between ground and shattery plastic, pedals continue to not help.
i rigged up the hairdryer set up, pics later. it works ok.
Get a VeloSolex. It's French and no belt!
