Kits and Stock Crank

Haven't had any problems with my stock crank and polini set-up, but everyone's talking about getting new rods, etc. pressed in for better reliability. Anyone hitting high rpm's on stock cranks with little to no mods? How reliable? And what size holes should you drill in the piston where the crank and wrist pin connect for better lubrication?
