where do you weld magnum frames

i cant find the thread anymore, but we want to beef up our magnum frames this spring with the extra welds.. anyone know the correct place to protect it from the common cracking?

the swing arm cracking or what?

I've only seen it welded once it breaks. It seems like just adding material on isn't going to make much of a difference.

This is only a problem on the cottage cheese frames.

racing frames, whatever. I mean the later style (well 79 and later magnum) which all have the frames with the holes cut down where the motors mount.

The 78 (XK and MKII) frames look like a freespirit/murray and are all solid where the motor mounts up. I've never heard of issues with those.

haha, yea now I see the mistake. I had the right idea...

Re: where do you weld magnum frames

Don't you box the lower motor mount area?

Weld a metal plate to the back of the mount.

Keeps the mount from twisting,

Re: where do you weld magnum frames

Anyone have a picture of a plate welded there?

Re: where do you weld magnum frames
