athena reed valve

does anyone know if you can take the exhaust studs out of a 50cc athena reed valve kit? they look like they should come out but i can get them to move with the 2 nut method -> i dont know what else to call it? is there any better way to remove studs besides vicegrips?

athena reed valve

i forgot the performance part of my question, has anyone done any piston modifications to thier athena reed valve kit?

Re: athena reed valve

i shaved my piston skirt down alot. to increase intake duration

Re: athena reed valve

I couldn't get the exhaust studs out so I gave up. I haven't modified the piston yet, but when I do, I'll just mess with the existing boost port holes in the piston.

Re: athena reed valve

yeah i didnt you say like 3cm, you have th 70cc kit right?

Re: athena reed valve

yeah i have the 70 kit.. i shaved it down alot ... 3cm is moderate and i would start there. take the intake off and spin the crank and just look down in there. you can remove alot if you want

Re: athena reed valve

hey im one of the kids from delaware that came up to lancaster in the fall when is the next ride? 3cm is moderate? 3cm seems almost crazy to me but this is my first reed valve and you sure did blast past me last year so ill tke your word for it. what else were/are you running on that setup? carb? pipe? crank? helium filled tires maybe?

Re: athena reed valve

next ride is when the snow is gone and the roads are dry.

the set up i had on that bike was ..

70cc reed valve piston skirt shaved

exhaust port raised 3mm.

20mm carb to the20mm reed block

homoet 6p.

16x36 gearing. i was hitting 64.5 on that ride. it was fun

but the set up i have on that bike is diffrent now. its a metra 65

the athena 70 went on my pinto just got. which now has a korado cdi that i have yet to time . so its kinda un rideable .
