17mm bing

I want to use the 17mm bing I have with a 70cc kitted E50 kick start project but I am very discouraged by what I found with the intake. The intake (magnum x) will not fit a standard puch cylinder and I don't know if I can find another intake to work with the carb? The intake is clearly smaller than the carb and the stud spacing is about a quarter inch smaller than the standard puch spacing. Has anyone used this carb on a kitted setup successfuly? I tried 7/8 handle bar tubing but it was a bit to small. I don't mind fabricating my own intake but I don't want to cut up this intake as they are kind of rare and would rather keep it intact. I realy want to use this carb as i am cheap and don't want to have to spend $100 on a carb and intake for this build.

I'm running a 17 Bing/Mag X intake on a 65 Metra with a Benassar pipe.

Blast city.

Well, not currently, as I'm having a vacuum problem with the carb, but that's neither here nor there. The blast potential is there.

Re: 17mm bing

You had to open up the spacing for the studs? I want to use this with a K-star that has a square intake. The metras have a round intake. Did you use the spacer also?

Re: 17mm bing

so I searched around today and fount that conduit is almost the same size as the intake. It will take a little shaving and welding but it won't be to bad. Its a hell of of allot larger inside and can be bent to shape the square port on the K-star.

Sorry to jump into your thread; but will you tell me how to put pics directly onto your post.

I guess I don't understand. Direct link from where?

Re: 17mm bing= OT

from a hosting site like photobucket.

Bump for a good guy.

Re: 17mm bing

I used 1/2 inche steel tubing with the plastic nipple on it. It was a perfect fit. Wound up finding a 17mm bing manifold off of a small motorcycle and took that. Just an FYI I have some spare 17mm carb parts. Should have about 4 or 5 carb bodies somewhere.

Re: 17mm bing

1. Dremmel out the mounting holes until they oval out enough to bolt onto an ne50.

2. Deal with the fact that your intake is 16mm and your carb is 17mm. It's not a big deal.

That's what I did.

Re: 17mm bing

Open that manifold up with your dremmel, and a small curved rasp. Also; they ain't that rare. Have you thought about boring that stock Maxi cylinder out to 70cc's and porting it yourself?

Re: 17mm bing

It only cost $100 for the 70cc kit. It would cost about the same to have it bored and get a new piston etc.

Re: 17mm bing

it will never run the Italian bike is going to reject it like a hart transplant

Re: 17mm bing

I'm not sure what a "hart" is but I'm sure it will blast. You are building it so it better run! Puch motor plus Italian frame = the perfect ped.
