Fitting a Boss Pipe On My Magnum

Ok, so I picked up a boss pipe and I wanted to put it on my Magnum XK I it's has the larger jug and the angled exhaust port..

I took it to this custom motorcycle shop to see if they could bend it for me but they said it would crimp..

Where is the best place to take this pipe to have it custom fit for the magnum??? and what do they need to do..??

Cut the flange then put it back on at the right angle, then heat and bend the pipe???

Should I go to a good muffler shop?? any suggestions or comments would help, I'm not ready for a kit I'd just like to make this pipe work on my magnum, need help..

Or is allthis a waste of time and money??

thanks

Really all you need to do is cut and re-weld the header section to the correct angle you need.

If you don't have access to a welder. A good ol' muffler shop will do. They usually charge like $20 for something like that. Go during a non-busy period and I am sure they would be glad to help you out. Although you must bring your ped with you so they can mock it up and make sure everything fits correctly.

good luck. its a pretty simple process.

Hey thanks Andy...

What about pedal clearance any issues there??

I thought it might be easy for a good shop, I'm going to see if I can't get this done later today..

Thanks

You might want to be careful in doing that. If the angle is too much then it could restrict the pipe (see diagram). The exhaust flow will be restricted by the sharp angle you have to cut. You might talk to them and see what they say, but I don't know what kind of angles you're working with.

adam, its an angled exhaust port, so it would be good flow.

the easiest solution is to cut a wedge out with an angle grinder (on the front of the header), then pound the flange so its angled. You'll get a tiny crimp if you go crazy, but this generally works really well. Then get the little bit welded up and rip! You could also braise it if you possess the skills.
