I built this from copper today.its a combination of plumbing parts and some scratch building, with a coat of semi matt black paint i think it will look good.

no, i used a set of helping hands to hold it and it was really easy, the trick with soldering is cleanliness of parts, the flange is made from 2 sheets of 2.5mm copper plate laminated together with solder.

rad! my only fear is that with that heavy ass carb hanging out there like that, especially on a rigid, it might not hold up! any way you can solder a support in there some how some where?

Soldering lapped joints works good but just butt to butt might be a little weak. Silver solder or phosphor bronze braze rod works good on copper. The bronze could be used for butted joints. Sure looks nice

Nice job.
Once upon a time (about 45 years ago), I had some brazing rod that I could braze aluminum to anything I could silver solder. I brazed some copper tubing into an oil cooler to make an oil cooler.

Thanks guy's for all your positive comments. i'll expand a little on the construction, the flange as i said is made from 2 parts, when i drilled the holes for the pipe i drilled the top one so the pipe fits through it and the bottom one is just slightly smaller so the pipe sits on it , where the pipe is joined mid section i made up a small internal collar to add support, i dont think a straight but type of joint would last long, regarding the bending of the pipe, i didn't, i used a plumbing fitting and cut and shut it, you couldn't bend straight pipe into tight bends like this, the stresses would be too great on the pipe wall.
only time will tell if it will hold up, i'll keep you posted.

Copper, but if you are soldering you could use steel or brass as the flange

vibrations will kill it. lapped joint would be fine, but i guess they don't make a flange that will have a fitting like that. looks CLEAN DUDE VERY NICE!!!!
