Noticed that the head tube on my Free spirit is much shorter than the steerer tube on the Revival forks I want to use, 17"wheel & disc brakes baby!. The threads on the steerer tube don't even come down far enough to be able to use spacers. I'm thinking the way to go is to weld a couple inches on to the head tube. Any body else done this mod with a Revival fork, and a Puch Frame? If so, how did you make it work, and how do you like the fork and brakes?
Thread the steer tube another 1" or so, then make a spacer to fit between the top race and the top tree.
Is there a way to remove the steerer tube from the top race?
get some one inch washers, I only had to use one for older Tomos forks on my maxi.

what about the brakes? they are different.
wait how do you thread a tube in a home workshop? i've tapped holes before but i've never threaded anything. any info greatly appreciated because i also very much want to make this mod.
I was able to find a used cup that had extra material at the end (3/4") to take up the slack.
Gonna have to shell out $ for the wheel, brakes, and controls

how much did you pay for the whole set up? Did you get it through a local Tomos dealer?

You would need a large die, 1" for most mopeds. Not sure about the tread pitch, that may vary between moped brands. If it uses the same thread pitch as a bicycle race (24tpi i think) a good bike shop may be able to add more threads for you.
Bike shop. like stated above. Mine does this for bikes all the time. Quoted $10.
are those front forks basically the same length as stock maxi forks, or are they much longer? also, can you basically just use a 17" tomos rear wheel on a puch or does it require a lot of mods?

tomos mags are the most ugly of them all.
u can use the tomos wheel on ur puch but it will hate u for it.
because u will loose ur freewheel and the brake is on the other side so u will need to modifiy your swingarm to work with the tomos brake.
the pro is that u gain sealed bearings and can run extreme small spocket for a puch on the tomos mag
the con they are ugly

tomos 5stars rock yes but they will NOT work with the hydrolic ebrs because the axel is not removeable.
this is whats holding me back from getting hydrolic ebr. i dont want to run the ugly tomos mag(pretty to some)

I just have old spring ones, still way beefier than stock maxi. As for the wheel I kept the flacid five star. But you can just run a puch wheel with rear brake plate on the left.
I hate the look of tomo mags.... but the big brakes and ease of fitment to my tomo hydraulica make it worth it to me.

I'm staying Puch with the Engine, and rear wheel. So I'm just using the Revival 17" spoked wheel for the front. The Streetmate/Mag is 16". But... If your gonna use a Tomos wheel on a Puch swing arm, I'm pretty sure u just need to weld a brake stop on the right side. Bump?
