hobbit carb - idle circuit - welch plug?

Near the end of a 35 mile ride last weekend and after running flat out for about 7 or 8 miles my hobbit wouldn't idle and died every time I slowed down. It had been running perfectly all day.

It didn't make much sense but I figured something was screwing up the idle circuit. When I had it out to clean it, everything was clean and clear but I found that the Welch plug was missing and there was a bare opening in its place.

So while I wait on a couple new plugs, does anyone know if that is what could be screwing up my idle circuit? Has anyone ever lost one while riding?

if you dont have the welch plug your bike wont idle. you will be getting way way too much air. as soon as you get the plug you should be golden.

I hope that's not what I did since I had an idle/fuel problem before I blew the carb clean.

Can you just push the plug in with your fingers or does it take more force?

I just replaced my welch plug yesterday. I got my plug from a chainsaw store. This plug was domed, and I put it in and flattened it with a similar sized bolt. The guy at the chainsaw store said to use finger nail polish to seal it. Now my Hobbit purrs like a kitten.
