Damnit - case matching problem

Frostback Ditch /

Alrighty, so here is my dilemma, I'm just finishing the case matching for my Moby 50V, and without thinking I started going reverse devil horn (grinding the inside instead of the outside of the channel, see crudely drawn picture above), now I'm not sure how much this will effect the gas flow.

Could I just grind the cylinder skirt a bit to compensate? Or am I fucked? Thanks for the help

as long as it seals yr fine.

Re: Damnit - case matching problem

it's a stock motor, you are not going to be breaking land speed records. If you are really worried, mold some JB weld or whatever is more paste like to rebuild what you took off and you should be fine.

Lesson learned? Always follow a gasket for porting and mark what you need to take off with a felt marker.

Re: Damnit - case matching problem

Just run it . As long as it seals that is . make sure you have a minimum sealing surface area all around of say 2mm , 1mm if your daring . Other then that get a case . I dont trust those goops and epoxys to never break loose inside of the case .

Just a thought .

Hey, thanks for the input, I was a little peeved when I figured what I did as I had just finished an almost perfect other half. The shitty thing is I don't have a gasket as of right now, I have gasket paper but haven't gotten around to making one. I just slide the cylinder back on the case half and take a peek to see how it matches.

My other quick question I have is, how much power loss could I expect? I guess I should have mentioned I've ported the cylinder, performance exhaust/variator and the like, so I want to make sure I lose a bare minimum of power.

Gotta love being the only one around this neck of the woods that does this sorta stuff, so I must teach myself with trial and error. Thanks again for your help.

Re: Damnit - case matching problem

Nobody can tell you how much power you will loose . I am sure its not going to be huge . Maybe , maybe noticeable . Probably not . Just run it .

Re: Damnit - case matching problem

It will slow down the air travel/charge coming from that one transfer port, and will mess up your transfer flow into the piston ever so slightly. You will never know the difference if you just put it all back together and ride ride ride.
