Is it worth it buying a new case?

Baltard Drought /

Malossi 70cc cast iron kit

moped malossi "special" belt

phbg intake (18-21mm)

moped ninja G3 pipe for performance

Dellorto PHBG 19.5mm

So this is my setup right now, would a new case, crank, and variator be worth the cash if i've already bought the rest of that? Also, how hard is it to totally disassemble the engine like that and put it back together?

Re: Is it worth it buying a new case?

I prewsume it's a Peugeot. Yep you get bigger reeds with a better case

Re: Is it worth it buying a new case?

Well if you aren't even planning on matching your stock case to the kit then yes its definately a big difference, it'll match the case to the kit and you'll get 4 petal reeds and much better flow overall.

As to difficulty: have you ever rebuilt a moped engine? Peugeot case itself is very simple and as easy to rebuild as anything else, but taking off and reinstalling the variator and taking off and replacing the belt tensioning spring and just getting the new case slid up in the movable mounting bracket are all more of a pain than say, rebuilding an e50 and mounting it on a puch. Resetting the timing is a little more annoying too because there's no woodruff key.

Ok, that sounds like maybe its something I should wait and get have somebody do for me if I decide my bike isn't fast enough without it..I certainly dont want to pull it all apart, not be able to get it running again and have a $700 head of useless parts.

Also, if any of you are 103 owners, will I be able to keep my pedals if i have the g3 on there?

Is it possible to port match without taking the case apart?

Re: Is it worth it buying a new case?

I would not jump into the deep end of moped performance before testing the waters of simple mechanics. There is a learning curve to French mopeds, one that you can not skip and expect to have a fast moped on your hands.

Take apart your current motor, rebuild it, port your case/cylinder or get a kit before sinking the money into fast parts.
