garelli forks

I recently purchased a garelli supersport XL (my first moped) and the forks and the assembly are very rusty. i was wondering if i could put forks from another moped on my garelli like say forks from a maxi or tomos. is this possible? if so what modifying would i have to do to make it work. any information will help me alot.

realy tho smear gojo and just wire brush it

Re: garelli forks

and if all else fails i have a set that are red. but just use yours.

your ped is brown. so is rust

Re: garelli forks

wire wheel, wire brush, steel wool, elbow grease, it'll come off. Garelli forks are pretty nice, as far as stock moped forks go. I wouldn't bother with Maxi stuff, though Tomos is nice.

Re: garelli forks

I had some fork that were rust and painted. Alot of wire wool and sandpaper later I have a pair of shiny steel forks...

Or get them rechromed.

Re: garelli forks

One of the Cutters put new Tomos forks on a Garelli. Look great, work great, and since he put a Tomos wheel on there too, he now has awesome brakes. Apparently it "wasn't that hard" though I don't know exactly what that means.

Re: garelli forks

we just put some EBR's on a garelli but you have to find maxi races and such.

Re: garelli forks

^so EBRs for a maxi would work? what all is involved????

Re: garelli forks

yes. You need to find maxi bearings, bearing cups, and races. Find someone that has old maxi forks with all of the goods and you should be good. I know benji has new ones and is probably easier than trying to go find them.

Re: garelli forks

oh and fyi EBRs are a bitch to put on. Even with experience.

Re: garelli forks

thanks for the help, tonight i cleaned up the rear shocks and the rear fender support. looks great i just dont know when i wanna dive into the forks. could be a project
