Tomos a3 Performance

Hi,

I have purchased a 15 mm dellorto carb for my silver bullet, i am wondering what any of you have done for an intake mainfold. I can tell already I am going to have to make a custom one. Thanks

weld one, or use some copper tubing and heater hose.and cut your stock one to attach then hose, heres one i made just by cutting it and using heater hose and hose clamps...^^

is the top part of the intake from a puch bing intake? and what is that, a glass paperweight on the right?

i also have a silver bullet, and it is SLOW, and i am going to maybe do some work to make it faster. cause its kinda sweet.

Re: Tomos a3 Performance

I know I've asked you this before (probably multiple times before) but that gets the carb out from under the frame, right? It looks like it does...

Re: Tomos a3 Performance

i have an '80 and i can get the carb out but not sure about yours. if you get the intake bored out with a dremel and put an estoril on there that thing will fly. my stock carb/bike with a 50 jet got me 35mph with 33 crews speed. get the intake right and rejet you will easily go past that. mine has some kind of issue with fuel flow right now. i am working on it. that's why i know the carb can be taken out.

for those with stock carbs i recommend B12 cleaner, make sure you use glass jar that covers it. you can reuse B12 as all bad stuff, right to the bottom.

i think it is a great 2speed bike. very snappy. but i prefer my batavus over the tomos. am going to be painting tomos and such this winter.

that is some helpful info aaron. mine is a 79 with black flakes and 1600 miles. i was thinking i would have to carb/intake/exhaust but i think i am going to try to work with the stock carb and a techo boss and go from there.

i also prefer my sachs and my motobecanes but the tomos is a 2 speed which is nice because there are some hills in my hood.

Re: Tomos a3 Performance

The best thing I ever did for my A3 was buy an A35 cylinder kit from 1977, replaced the bushing on the crank arm with the correct size for the A35 piston and got the intake that goes off to the side. With a 15.15 SHA and a Tomos Estoril, my bike probably does a good 40-45, though I haven't fully opened it up. It's a '93 Tomos Bullet, automatic 2 speed. Also, A35? Reedvalve. Awesome.

yea i put the K-star 70cc on my A-3 and it flys now.. yes linda it puts it out to the driver side, or any side you want and its a bing intake also.it fits the dell w/ out a shim, but the intake must be like new ,real smooth where it connects..and i had to do some porting on my stock setup to hit 35-37,w/ a 13/13 and biturbo..
