Check it.
My friend Jamie and I finished up a new custom 18mm Mikuni carb intake for a friend's Tomos. Wanted to share.
Here is the setup...
1985 Tomos Golden Bullet
A35 CDI engine
70cc Alukit
Stock intake - dremeled
15.15 Dellorto SHA
2-Piece Bi-Turbo (have a NIB Homoet 4p to try)
I ran for a few miles a stock tomos intake that someone had dremeled out a bit...
Since the kit is new, I can't run it too hard, but I can tell the small intake is affecting performance in a negative way...
It just felt like the bike could not take a deep breath, so after looking and finding ZERO performance tomos intakes, we improvised.
We basically have replicated the intake and carb setup on my Pinto with the Gila kit to run my new favorite, 18mm Mikuni carb.
1" steel tubing purchased and bent at home depot fits perfectly inside a 18mm Mikuni with the spacer removed...
I bought the tubing, walked to the conduit section, grabbed a bender, bent the tubing, and walked out.
Took some thick ass flat stock Jamie had at his shop... cut the 1" tubing where we wanted it.
Tacked it in place on the bike, then removed and finished the weld. Leak check... None. So, a little sanding/grinding and some BBQ rattle-can paint... done.
Here are some pics...
Can't wait to run it tomorrow.
Should freakin' rip.
