ok. so i just seized my polini peugeot on the freeway last week. based on the speed cars drive on this free way i would guess i was going around 55 +/-5mph i don't know exactly. i popped the jug of and sanded the smeared aluminum off the cylinder walls, and guess what!!! my nickasil lining or whatever is nearly flawless. i would still even see the crosshatch still. i was very impressed with such a clean hard seize. anywho before installing a new piston i decided to go for broke and port the fuck out of my kit.
Here is what i did, sorry no pics. i opened up my transfers to match my case, which i had originally been matched to a gasket that was bigger than the ports on my kit.
i also cut down the cylinder wall from the back of the transfer towards the front. i only went about 10mm. i did not knock out the entire wall like a stock puch jug, which i was tempted to do.
i doubled the size of the transfer window on the top of the piston. and i drilled 5 tiny holes up top too for oiling. i also drilled a few oiling holes into the wristpin slot.
i hallowed out the cutaways on the sides of the piston, revealing a webbing that matches the transfers on the cylinder wall.
i also thinned the "W" exhaust port, cause i felt like they blocking a lot of flow, but the "W" port looks like toothpics. and i raised the fucker about 3mm.
after doing all this, i cleaned and polished everything, and was looking at it. i thought, "fuck. now all i have is a paper weight. i have gone too far."
so i put it back on anyhow. AND GODDAMN!!!! the fucking thing is a beast!!!!! o man this thing is pulling me so hard. i experienced a gain on low end, mid range, and hopefully top speed. i have not opened it up yet. i will on my way to school tomorrow.
but yea, my take-off and accel are so fucking awesome.
New theory: the more you take off, the faster you go. just getting a big kit alone is not the end of going fast. i love mopeds.
