Yes, I was wondering if you can swap them out. I have a 5041a case and want to put a 505 crank, I know the nut for the flywheel is larger on the 505 but it seems like the honed part could match ot the flywheel for the 504 (Bosch)

I think there is something about this in the wiki under the sachs stuff. Check it out, its got Somethign about interchangability of parts I believe. The 504 doesnt have pedals through the case right? I know the 505 pedal and shaft go through the middle of the case, so I dont think they are. but Im not positive.
They won't swap the magneto side is different. 505's take a larger bosch flywheel, with 3 screws on the stator holding it down and 504's have the smaller flywheel and two screws on the stator.
I believe the stroke is different too, though I am not 100% sure on that.
So, yeah no one has a definate answer...the stator plate is not the issue, it is in the connection to the flywheel that is the issue...ok let me rephrase...will a 5041A bosch flywheel fit on a 505 crankshaft if it is put on a 504 engine case?

NO IT WON'T FIT.
THE FLYWHEEL FOR THE 504 IS TOO SMALL.
THE SHAFT IT MOUNTS ON IS DIFFRENT
YOU CAN'T EVEN SWAP THE STATOR PLATE AND MAKE IT FIT.

The stroke difference is only between a D crank and every other crank for a 505.
we looked at a 505D and a 505A crank last night and it looks like the con rods are different part numbers by one. also, it looks like the con rod attaches a little lower on the D crank to give it a longer stroke. to be continued. also, mikebartel, your last post was hilarious and awesome, i hope i see you again soon!
How about the KTM that's on some of these foxi. Is that a parts interchangale with the 054?

if you put the 505 flywheel/stator on, i think you could make it work, maybe by drilling and tapping some new stator holes...
yeah, perhaps, but the flywheel is too large for the 504 housing I believe
I thought you were going to variate that thing somehow .
