Dellorto throttle cable

I just got a 15/15 for my puch but the throttle cable it came with doesn't fit into the throttle assemply on my handle bars. So i used my old cable and there is about an inch to much cable. I don't understand how to tighten it that much cuz there is no tention on the cable.
