I dont know if this would be hard to do or stupid to do but has anyone made an actual top tank hobbit, not a frame brace but a top tank. or does anyone have any ideas on how to do this or why or why not to do this?

Never seen pictures but I've heard claims of this having been done. Cutter Zach I think had one with a Trail 90 tank? I've been working on this idea for bit but the tanks I find on eBay I either don't win or are too big. It would probably be best to use a moped tank but I want to it look like one of the 1970's CB or CL Hondas.
typically tube type frames dont need frame braces because they are very strong already, i guess top tank hasnt been done just cos no one thinks it will look that good
it has been done a couple times, the one i saw was in grandrapids at ghost ride 2, not sure who owns it though. he did a super good job, the bike wasn't the prettiest, but it took a second glance for me to see that it was in fact a hobbit and not stock.
ya i was thinkin of maybe trying to do a magnum tank I have a friend that runs a chop shop so getting the frame fabricated would just be a matter of measurements i guess
I've been looking for the right tank to do this with but haven't found one yet. When I do I plan to build it so I can swap back to my original setup.
This is a camino, but very much similar and of the same thing, just found this browsing the photos gallery
ahhh just kidding hahha thats just with a cross bar
I'm pretty sure it was a Bandit who had the top tank hobbit, they had stuffed a Targa tank into the space.
Jon! in Reno has made a top tank AMS Tahoe / Hobbit, looks good! Plus you can work around the carb being so close to the frame when you design it yourself. Just make a brace for the frame that is tall enough and move the swingarm back.
anyone got a pictures of Jon!'s? sounds good what he did with the swingarm to make getting to the carb easier

That guy did it...
No pics of jon!s, what I meant to say was the mount for the swingarm was moved back about four inches or so from where it would've been mounted on an AMS tahoe, like Dean's crappy old AMS for ex. only more variated. I did a post where I put up "artist renderings" of the mount.
Hobbit, Bravo, Pinto, Prima, anythin with a tube frame and a removable tank is a good candidate for a top tank conversion. Just weld in a cross bar and some tabs to mount a tank.
I did it with a single seat and a small tank on a puch cause I wanted a BMXie look. But theres no reason you couldn't use a larger tank and a long seat to look more like a normal top tank.
haha, that bandit hobbit is now a train wreck in the yard.... haha.

not a hobbit but you get the idea
Nick your bike is Swee-eee-eet. I miss seein it zoom around.
that hobbit conversion that chris linked to looks like shit.. the tank just doesn't work with it.
i'd take my ams over a hobbit general any day! haha. my vespa magnum is going to be pretty sweet, though. i can't wait for it, honestly.
