^^^ That's probably because you have not ridden a magnum with MK2 forks.

The EBR forks use springs for both rebound and dampening. The mk2 forks use valves to pass oil through for dampening and springs for rebound. They are much less bouncy and most of the time give a much more plush ride. There is a reason all modern sport bikes use hydraulic front forks.
