Attention buyers of the Airsal 70cc kits!!!

There is a major flaw in the intake port of the A55 70cc Airsal kits. The intake bolt was tapped out too deep and penetrated the intake port wall. So make sure you check your kits for a small hole because it will get bigger and metal chunks will fall into the cylinder. My distributor has informed me of this and said two others have the same problem with all their kits. Pass the word along. I also attached a picture. Does anyone know of any other kits I could get for my A55 Tomos?

Re: Attention buyers of the Airsal 70cc kits!!!

mine doesnt look like that i dont think:( haha

Re: Attention buyers of the Airsal 70cc kits!!!

Yeah man the hole was small as hell and I took a flat head to it and the hole got bigger you can see where I scratched it too so those aren't cracks if anyone thinks they are. I'm goin' to take it to my friend who is a machinist and see how much it would cost to fill it with a real weld and then see if I can get a discount for that amount from 1977 Mopeds. What a pain in the ass.

Who made the mess of the cylinder walls. Getto honing method?

Re: Attention buyers of the Airsal 70cc kits!!!

ya man im like shuid i take my head off it runs great and if i do find that it is like that then fuckkkkkk

Re: Attention buyers of the Airsal 70cc kits!!!

i would just clean up the area around the hole and make sure to use some teflon thread tape or loctite to seal the threads. it might be too hot for teflon, blue loctite? i think welding and grinding it is a major waste of time, especially for a crappy airsal cylinder.

i guarantee nate bandit would run it like that and it would be fast as shit.

Re: Attention buyers of the Airsal 70cc kits!!!

yep. Mines had the same exact hole you speak of. Except i didn't make the penetration any deeper(ha!) I thought it was just mine! but I guess it turns out its a factory problem. What trips me out is that quality control in Espana kinda sorta missed a big fucking hole in the intake port. hmmmm.... Tsk Tsk.

Airleak city! right through the threads when i first put it on. To remedy this predicament, I just put some Teflon tape only on the fucked up side, then put a double intake manifold gasket. Holding up pretty nicely. No more massive air leaks. Im still tempted to JB weld it, but the stuff dries fairly quickly and will hold up extremely well. I got mine from treats. Guess he didnt really look at them. Makes me feel better that chunks of metal could potentionallly fall off any day of the week right into the case;

Re: Attention buyers of the Airsal 70cc kits!!!

My kit has this defect except its a tiny little hole. I am just going to fill it up with some JB weld.

These kits are not the same as the 65cc kits correct?

Re: Attention buyers of the Airsal 70cc kits!!!

the cross hatching on the cylinder walls are to help the ring and kit breakin faster all polini kits are cross hatches aswell as many others

Re: Attention buyers of the Airsal 70cc kits!!!

that hole doesn't matter at all. put a screw in it. done. maybe even some locktight if you're feelin lucky!

Re: Attention buyers of the Airsal 70cc kits!!!

Air leaks kill two strokes dead.

Airsal kits for Tomos are actually only 63.7cc but called 70cc. Really should be 65cc kit in there literature though. I guess size matters. lol

Re: Attention buyers of the Airsal 70cc kits!!!

Correction and FYI. The Airsal 65cc kit is a reed valve setup. The newer Airsal 70cc kit is a piston port.

and the new one is 72cc
