Case porting

so what do you guys use to case match? i was using a pnumatic grinder with a carbide bit, but it keeps melting the AL and filling up the bit...

Thanks

Re: Case porting

Im sure if you took it a little slower (Ie: less RPM's) You wouldn't have much of a problem with buildup. Plus I think dremel does just the trick with a carbide bit.

Re: Case porting

dremmel...

Re: Case porting

yeah i was going to use my dremel, but it'll take forever with such a small bit. the air tools is massive and takes alot out at once. i guess anything worth doing is worth doing right though

Re: Case porting

Dremmel, with the right bit, rips it out in a few seconds...

Re: Case porting

I use carbide dremmel bits. They are slow but fairly easy to control and don't clog at all if you dip them in grease occasionally.

You can also get carbide cutters for die grinders but the bits are usually pretty bulky for fine work.

Re: Case porting

use a cutting tool, not a grinder, a high helix HHS is better than carbide in the situation.

just look the the machinists handbook

Re: Case porting

I use a die grinder and carbide burrs, pour yourself a cup of oil and dip the burr into the oil every 10-20 seconds of cutting, the burr won't ever get clogged. Also, keep your rpm low.

Re: Case porting

dremel all the way , all day , fine work taken slow

I use both!! die grinder for taken out the big meat. Then i have an 1/8 inch colet for the die grinder so i can use the little dremel bits for perfect grindieness
