Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrelli v1

I just picked up an AMF Roadmaster with a v1 on it, and I'm pretty sure it's the 25 mph version. I haven't gotten it up higher than that, even on flats. It runs well and everything, so my best guess is that it's the 25 and not the 30.

I've been looking through the manual online in an effort to find out exactly what the difference is. The carbs are the same (14/12). So far I've been able to identify the following differences:

(Part: 25/30)

Sprocket: 10 teeth/11 teeth

The rings may be different as well: 38.7mm/38.8

These were the only things I could find in the manual that vary between the two models. Is there anyone out there who is knowledgeable about this? Could I upgrade to the 30 mph engine by swapping out some parts, or would it require me to physically alter the parts that I have now? It seems like the sprocket should be pretty doable, but I know that I might take a hit on my acceleration. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks a lot!

More restrictive intake maybe? Just get an expansion chamber exhaust and upjet. You could do a bigger carb and intake and portmatch as well. Don't increase the sprocket without a kit.

Thanks for the tips.

Re: Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrell

Just to clarify, up jetting requires new parts, right? Are they pretty easy to find locally, or does one need to order them from the internet?

Re: Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrell

hey dude, before you get an expansion chamber, take your carb apart and clean it. also, when you take the carb off, look in the intake. the intake should be the same size or larger than the throat of the carb the whole way through. if there's plastic, or even a matal piece cutting it down get it out, no matter how you have to.

also, if the rings are different, that could seriously affect your compression. that's a ridiculous way to change it, but maybe they actually did that.

you can also look at your timing, try advancing it a little bit. that can gain you a little bit in some situations.

usually if you find every variation in parts for fast vs slow bikes, you can replace the slow stuff with the fast stuff.

is the exhaust the same?

is the needle position in the carb the same? are the jets the same?

thinking of hondas, does it have the same cylinder for sure? more/less gaskets in any place?

Re: Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrell

i would order your jets online. you will most likely get a better deal than if you find a dealer locally. what brand carb is it and what is in it for a jet?

Re: Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrell

It's a Dellorto with a #52 jet.

Re: Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrell

As far as I know, the intakes on the 25mph ones are super small. Like the other person said, look at the intake and replace it with a larger one and a larger carb. The 14-12 is really small anyways. Consider getting a 15mm SHA if you like the simple tuning. You can look around for a matching intake for it.

Re: Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrell

it's all in the carb/intake/pipe/gearing/tuning. v1's will rip. i have access to soooo many stock minarelli parts if you ever need. pistons rings cranks anything. upjetting is only required AFTER installing higher performance parts in order to provide an adequate amount of fuel for the new higher demand.

Re: Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrell

How much for the stock replacement clutch..?

Is there any BULK buys Andy?

Re: Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrell

yeah, if you want it to be fixed up pretty quick just get a new intake, new carb, and a few bigger jets maybe. also look at a new air filter as a possibility.

in the wiki it says that

Re: Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrell

Perfekt Timing Angel /

New carb, new pipe, upjet. Get an 11 tooth on there if you can. Should put you in the 30-35 range easily.

Re: Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrell

32 rear!!!!!!! fly.

no clutches, sorry. i had to pull shoes off an nos carabella kickstart clutch to bring mine back to life.

bulk might be an option? i'll ask drew, he knows more than i do.

giant sleeves of stock pistons and rings.

Re: Difference between 25 mph and 30 mph minarrell

i meant to say that the wiki parts crossover says v1 intakes work on puchs. is it the same the other way? anybody know?
