K&N on a hobbit

yo so I think I want a K&N filter on my hobbit anyone busted this and if so what kind and what did you have to do to get it on?

Re: K&N on a hobbit

absolute, 100% waste of time.

Re: K&N on a hobbit

i would have to agree.

but it sometimes a waste of time is nice when you're bored...

then again it is a waste of time though.

Re: K&N on a hobbit

what do you do on your hobbit peter I know you go crazy fast and Im guessing you dont overheat I got a 70mallosi kit phgb carb polini pipe (soon to be a rafter pipe) but just the old rubber air filter

get a good foam filter man. you'll be good to go.

Re: K&N on a hobbit

ok whats a good foam filter brand?

Re: K&N on a hobbit

uni filter. or pantyhose!

technically you could make your own, but tht looks cheap. get a unipod, or malossi or doppler....etc. pantyhose is effective but looks tacky. drop 15 for a good filter. i don't know who makes one fit specific for hobbits, because i don't have one, but foam is the way to go. k&N is for cars, and motorcycles. that will have you running ultra lean on a moped

Re: K&N on a hobbit

leave the stock filter in there dude! i put 2000 miles on my kit beating the crap out of it non-stop with a stock, unmodified, untouched airfilter.

remember, if you put a better breathing flter element in, you will have to upjet. The performance increase will be 0 and you'll just have to worry about new jets and silly stuff like that.

explain to me how you have your carb setup... pics would help. everything is said abotu the stock filter might not matter considering you have a PHBG, i want to know how you have it set up...

Here is my new carb setup, this gave me no additional top end vs. the stock 12mm carb but i did gain some blips and revs and vrooms down low and in the mids.

Its a stock PA501 intake manifold with tons of dremeling to open up to 19mm. Removed the studs, hacked a stock puch exhaust header off, oh look! the puch header flange is the same bolt pattern as the honda intake mani flange! and its 19mm! lapped the flange flat again, used a stock puch exhaust gasket (yay for 19mm already!) bolted the header to the mani, went to THEZONE and found an amazing reducer to fit the 19mm header, and the bigger spigot on the carb. Clamp clamp, run new throttle cable to stock controls, no choke needed, drilled jet to 93, done. runs perfect!

Re: K&N on a hobbit

it's awesome how moped parts work together

Re: K&N on a hobbit

amazing....

ill get some pictures of my setup when I go home. anythin special i should take a picture of?

I might need to upjet cause I had the bike shut off when I was riding to fast downhill before and thats what made me think an airfilter might help I dont know why though I just come up with random shit I think will help lol.

Re: K&N on a hobbit

letting the carb get less air (by putting on a restrictive air filter) would make your mixture a little more rich, but that's not the proper way to do it
