Starting to modify a Peugeot 103.

So I just aquired a 1978 peugeot 103 SP. Sadly not the cvt version. :-(

I want it to be faster. I understand that displacement comes first. Then you can start to work on the rest of the induction and exhaust system.

Off the bat, what's the most economical way of going 70cc? I did find one kit for $72 on 50cc.nl. Every other kit is $150 on up.

How much do oversized pistons cost? How far can you bore the stock cylinder? Does anyone have a cylinder to sell?

At what point do you start looking for a bigger carb?

What sort of gearing is stock on the bike? Is it already doing 10,000 rpm at 30mph? How far should I go on gearing with a goal of 55mph top speed?

What are the current best choice in tires?

But what pipe? It's rare that they publish the operating rpm of a pipe. :-(

Re: Starting to modify a Peugeot 103.

I have an airsal cylinder for the 103. W shaped intake port. 46mm bore also some reed valves and 19mm intakes. If interested let me know. The cylinder kit is new and just under 100 bucks.

drop me an e-mail if you wan to go this way
