Hi Guy's, and Greetings from England..
Can anyone tell me why my Airsal 70 kit rattles? i know its a well documented fact that they do, but what causes it and is there a cure?
Cheers.

greetings englishman. motor mounts maybe?
Thanks, but its definatley not that, sound comes from within cylinder, it sounds like theres something small and loose in there which i know there is not, its really bloody annoying though, the last Airsal i had did exactly the same, any other ideas anyone?
Cheers.
put 4 pebbles in and run your bike till they come out.
it will sand the rattle away and come out your exhaust pipe
how do you come up with that?
High Compression head? Maybe it's pinging? Mine sounds the same way but it doesn't bother me. My plug chops looks fine and I've never seized...
imbalanced gears/crank? maybe to much slop in the piston idk
That could be it too...
Yeah its the tolerances. They aren't dead on, but it will run fine.
Sometimes if the head gasket is not centered exactly the piston can come up and touch the inner circumference of it make a tinny noise. It will wear in on it's own if you can't center it. If in your application the piston doesn't come up very high in the cyl then thats not it
Yeah I seem to have noticed those kits seem to make a strange rattle sound. It's kinda strange and could be the piston or rings chattering a bit. They seem to run fun though.

Did you notice any play in the con. rod small end, bearing and piston pin when you installed the kit? Something there could be slightly out of tolerance, so check your service manual for proper specs. Sometimes "one size does NOT fit all" and an appropriate diameter needle bearing must be used to compensate. Your service manual should mention which ones are available.
This situation causes a rattle or clattering sound in the engine at all revs -- not to be confused with a knocking sound that indicates the big-end of the con. rod being out.
