Crackstar, How did your sachs porting turn out?

I was searching and came across your little gem about Sachs porting. Unfortunately the thread died before you ever ran the engine, how did the porting work out?

Re: Crackstar, How did your sachs porting turn out

you will have to refresh my memory, that thing hasn't had any attention in years...

HA! that thread! Yeah, my Sparta was running so good I didn't ever finish that idea. It took a while but that sparta would catch up and hang with my moby at 35 so I left well enough alone. However, if you take a peak at the Athena 50cc kits for sachs you will see a shorter cylinder skirt and the transfer opening on the skirt are even with the base. Much similar to what I was trying to do....

Re: Crackstar, How did your sachs porting turn out

wow! 35 out of an "A" cylinder! couldn't really ask for more than that. I'll start grinding one of my spares tonight and see if I can continue on your project. I was going to port it according to that Motobecane cylinder diagram.

Just so you have apples to compare too,

Sachs 504/1a

AutoZone breather filter in the stock unaltered air box

the sparta also has 16" rims

i think the gearing is 11x36 (ill check at lunch)

My stock 505/1a balboa would never exceed 25 even with a sprocket swap. it had 17" snowflakes I think rim size does make a difference. 16"ers need less torque

both require major pedal assist on take off...

Re: Crackstar, How did your sachs porting turn out

the rim size is a good point. That would easily explain why my Kamasura will creep it's way up to 35 but my G3 struggles up to 30 with a Jarmacol pipe
