Take your time, clean everything while its apart, replace your case screws with cap screws (1977 sells a stainless set complete, or visit your hardware store), read the Wikki it is well put together. Enjoy, once you are man enough to take your case open, you will find a world of performance is at your finger tips.

Take everything slow. And I was on the more conservative side when port matching, due to it being easier to remove material over adding to.

Also, what I am running into issues now, have a variety of jets and stuff, it could save time and frustration after everything is together again.

I am definately not an expert but a beginner in that field of replacing all engine parts, but that are my suggestions from my limited experiences. Hope they help!

Putting on the crank bearings is real easy if you put the crank in the freezer for an hour, and put the bearings in the oven at 250 for 10 minutes. The bearings will literally fall onto the crank.

take the stator all the way off, not just half off so the cases come apart. you'll pinch wires and your bike will run like shit.
