hi everybody, I need help tuning my 2-speed clutching for my puch magnum. Dose any one have any pointers. It not like a e-50 at all (or is it) I have been staring at it for ever and nothing is coming to me.
ummm what do you want it to do. Its a clutch.
cant you tune it so it engages later.
i think you can take the long first gear spring that goes around and shorten it some to make it tighter, or treatsHQ on e-bay has ZA50 clutches that use three smaller springs like the e50 or vespa three shoe.
thank you maciek for the info. I need more help though, I put the clutches back to gether and now it dosen't engage all the time I have to stop and wait and then it engages. i'll ride it down the street but when I stop and start again it's like it's in neutral.
It sounds like your "first speed gear rollers" aren't all present or installed correctly.
There is totally a sweet video the chris from the creatures made for rebuilding a 2 speed and he talks about those rollers... Search for the link in the wiki...
I put the needle bearings in just how thy came out and it still dose not work. All the little spring plates touch the bearings and everything is tight. It's still is like in neutral.
2 speeds are hard, dude.
did you do anything to the clutches or forget to put something back?
Send me your motor and some cash and it will work/fly
check the position of the little metal fingers that touch the rollers. Its gotta go together a certain way or ya get a problem like yours.
are these that hard to work on? I have 3, 2 speed puch motors and was going to start playing with them I have a frame comming in the mail soon, do you need any special tools to work on these 2 speed clutches?
