Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

Alright, i got my moped from a buddy of mine intending to do some performance work. I just did the 70cc airsal kit, jetted the stock carb to 68, UNI green filter, and now it puts out white smoke from the bullet exhaust. Could i be running the wrong spark plug or something? Its an NGK B6HS. Maybe the carb needs to be tuned? Its runs AMAZING, its just smokey haha

White smoke indicates you are burning transmission fluid. crank seal blown out or worn.

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

white smoke could also be just jetted rich...

Pull your spark plug and see what it has to say about it

white smoke could also mean that you might have just put in too much oil...simmer down you nay sayers...it probably isn't that big of a deal

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

Yea, i just went and checked the plug. It looks fine to me, no white residue, just a little bit of an oily coating. But the thing is, i havent done anything with the oil. I just out the kit on and jetted it, and that was it...

yeah it's just an off ratio of oil/gas. you might have just put too much in, i do it all the time when i fill up at the pump and drop the oil in. no biggie, better to over oil, than to under oil

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

and plus gas evaporates and oil does not so as it sits in the tank the mix will be gradually get richer.

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

I think he is using his auto oil injector, I assume he is running a tomos, but I guess it could be a puch.

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

Yea im using an injector, its a tomos.

This is it

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

sure its not just being a 2 stroke?

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

I dunno, it could be. I'm a landscaper and usually if white smoke comes from a 2 stroker, its usually too much oil being burned. So maybe being a higher jet, means that its getting enough lubrication from fuel, and not needing the oil thats getting injected, thus getting burned off?

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

white smoke is tranny fluid..

too much 2 cycle oil will be blue/black.

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

So in that case, just replace the crank seals?

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

Alright, so i loaded the bike into my truck tonight and took it to my buddys house right by a 1/4 mile long causeway. We took turns rippin it up and down there. Top speed out of the both of us over the course of the night was around 55-60 in a 25 haha no joke. I think i just had to break in the cylinder rings because it doesnt smoke at all anymore. Its not insured or registered yet, thats why i havent made any successful runs with it yet. But now, no worries, no more smoke, it runs AMAZING

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

Man!!, I was getting excited by those speeds untill I saw you ride tomos and not puch. I am still thinking about getting this kits. Folks say its a good beginner.

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

yeah how were those speeds clocked?? Hopefully not by the tomos speedo.

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

:-[ yes by the tomos speedo haha, i plan on gettin a trail tech

you'll be surprised how fast you are actually going once GPS'ed properly. I would say....45 max.

TRUE!

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

did you even break it in first?

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

Ooh its broken in now! it runs like a TOP! I think it even runs better than it did with the 50cc stocker.

Re: Smoke from my new 70cc kit?

sure it does. white smoke is usually the burned crap that has been stuck in the exhaust for some time. the kit is just powerful enough to burn the crap out.
