Custom Puch frame brace?

I've tried searching, but came up with nothing specific on the topic. I'd like to weld in a custom frame brace for my newport project (f those bolt-on ones), and I'm looking for a little advice. What material should I start with? Does anyone have dimensions/template I can follow? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Custom Puch frame brace?

if you have the bike, just measure the distance, and copy the contours for where the bar will sit at both ends on some cardboard, and start working.

Re: Custom Puch frame brace?

i went to a small muffler shop and got a piece of pipe for free. cut to lenght then use a grinder to make fit perfect

here is a pic of the bar i made.

Re: Custom Puch frame brace?

I welded in a piece of pipe on mine, I just had to cut it to fit and weld away.

wow, sorry thats a bad picture but its the only one I have right now.

Re: Custom Puch frame brace?

Do your self a favor and don't weld the brace, find someone who can braise. Your much more likely to have leaks if you weld the tank.

As for making the bar. It's all about getting a steel tube that you like and cutting it down so it fits very snugly onto where you want it on the frame.

Re: Custom Puch frame brace?

Re: Custom Puch frame brace?
