metra 80 intake studs

Has anyone pulled out the intake studs on the metra 80 and tapped the holes for bolts?? Just curious, it would make it much easier to fit a large intake if you could use allen bolts. Thought I'd ask befor I gave it a try. thanks

Re: metra 80 intake studs

I know, I am so sorry for not gracing you with my good looks. But I had to work at the last minute, I was pissed about it and have vowed to be there next year if your doing it again. I will be at red october.

Re: metra 80 intake studs

Not as easy as you think...

The studs are cast into the cylinder, the only way to remove em it to cut em off, drill and tap the cylinder for m6.

If I ever meet the person who suggested casting the studs into the case they are getting kicked in the nuts.

Re: metra 80 intake studs

Thats kind of what I thought, I dont know why they would do that. I'd like to kick them in the nuts when you are done.

Re: metra 80 intake studs

yeah, it can be done, but it's a real pain in the ass. I know quite a few people who ruined a good metra cylinder cause they tried to fix a busted stud.

Re: metra 80 intake studs

it can be done and it is very EASY. if you know how to tap threads properly, cut them off, drill some 5/32 holes, tap 6m 1.00pitch threads and throw a stud in a bitch. i have done it before. success!!! exhaust studs can be done, too.!

Re: metra 80 intake studs

If you really want it done and don't feel comfortable doing it, just take it to a machine shop and spend $25.
