Tomos cylinder ID help needed

Ok, so I got this bike I a trade. Its a blue targa LX that is just a pile. I thought I could scavenge like bulbs and cables and whatever, and I noticed it didn't have a dellorto. Also I noticed the cylinder was smaller than my stock ones, so I assumed its previous abusive owner shredded his og cylinder and put like an a3 cylinder or some such thing on it. Then after I had it for a day or so I noticed that the biturbo on it has been modded to fit said cylinder, so then I began to wonder what the deal was, as it didn't seem likely that someone would go to all that trouble for a jimmy jigged cylinder. Anywho, the only markings on the whole shabang is the word "EUROCILINDRO" in tiny letters underneath the carb side of it. It appears to be aluminum and the piston has only one ring and is meant to have only one. The stock head works on it. I didn't have the foresight to measure the piston when I had it apart because it hadn't dawned on me that it might be of use, as I had given the engine up for dead. I got it running but the clutches are fried. The carb has ARRECHE written on it. WHats the deal? I don;t have a camera so pics aren't going to happen, sorry.

Re: Tomos cylinder ID help needed

It was sold as a complete "eurokit" (Cylinder, intake, carb and exhaust). Its either 60cc or 70cc. The cylinder and piston can also be used on a puch. These were sold for both puch and tomos but contained different exhausts and probably different intakes. There is info in the wiki on adding new cork to your fried tomos clutches.

Re: Tomos cylinder ID help needed

Nah, fuck the bike, its already being cannibalized by my other tomosi. I just wanted to know what the deal was with it so I could know what piston I needed to replace. The one doesn't want to come off the crank, plus the ring was seized to it upon arrival. CYlinder isn't bad though. I assume then that it was made by Airsal? Does the fact that it uses the stock head mean its the 60cc? Or does that have no bearing on the CCage?

Re: Tomos cylinder ID help needed

Its a eurocylinder, which is different from the tomos airsal's even though I think they are the same company now. You might be able to get a new piston but I'd press the wristpin out if its stuck and try to use the old one. Mopedshop or mopedjunkyard might have rings.

Re: Tomos cylinder ID help needed

Yeah, I took the little circlips off the end then got a bolt of the right size to try and hammer that little tube deally out so it would come off. No dice though. If I was able to get it off, and believe me round two is tamary, I will fer sher be just getting a new ring. Any tricks up yer sleeve for pin extraction? My motto is if brute force didn't solve your problem, you didn't use enough brute force, but I am always open to suggestions.

Re: Tomos cylinder ID help needed

Heat the piston slightly and use a vise, a bit of tubing and a small socket to press it out of there.
