Just some info for you all.
My first set of reeds were removed today after 635 miles.
Both reeds were no longer closing and looked blown open.
New reeds put in and throttle response is now amazing again.

Mike, what was the thickness/material of the reeds you replaced and the thickness of the replacements. Were they the same?
sick!!!!!!! more shit to maintain!!!!!!! not just gila's!
yup same prob dude, I'm gonna go thick malossi, to try and get them to last a bit more on mine... or maybe I'll go boysen, I herd boysen's tear apart pretty quick too though, true?
unfortunately, jimmy has tried whey reed combination and the stickers gave the best performance. I suppose a small loss of performance is acceptable for longetivity.
Maybe I will go over to bamboo reeds
Boysen reeds in my polini broke at 600 miles.
stock derbi reeds from 1987 dont have this problem rafter.
just sayin :)
Vic, it's good for you that Ugly never lost a race. Step your carb game up before it's to late. SF is in 3 weeks. Derbi vs Whatever my moped is round two? Lets not run outta gas this time. And lets do it outta the rain.
maybe tape them up so they don't open? :-)

I folded gaf tape up around some balsa wood, sooper performance gain, dog fo shours
I wonder if you could use the same material designed for musical instruments to do this...I'm actually serious, that instrument reed shit handles a lot of vibs.
I want a saxapuch...puchaphone. :-)
Perhaps one could design a reedcage to spring-hinge at the reeds so the reed material doesn't take the full bend during operation. this should be possible and work...
neither of those things are gonna happen fubarman.
i use the thickest polini stock on my puch, but its only a little polini
