Motobecane smokes after being shut off

my 1979 Motobecane restoration project is almost complete. It obviously hasn't been run in several years. I took it around the block for the second time today and when I got back to my house and killed the engine I noticed there was quite a bit of smoke coming from the engine itself especially in the head and cylinder area. what would cause this?

Re: Motobecane smokes after being shut off

Re: Motobecane smokes after being shut off

oils being burnt off...

Re: Motobecane smokes after being shut off

will this stop by itself or do I need to do something about it? I'm currently running a 57 jet on my dellorto 15.15sha. thanks

Re: Motobecane smokes after being shut off

are the head and cylinder clean? if not cean them up

Re: Motobecane smokes after being shut off

I may be just burning some of the sludged up oil in your cylinder/case gasket.

Re: Motobecane smokes after being shut off

that could be too. i wouldn' worry about it too much if your performance is good. either way it should go away by itself shortly

Re: Motobecane smokes after being shut off

use some brake cleaner on that thing!!

(not on the paint though!)

Re: Motobecane smokes after being shut off

and sometimes the back flow from the carb collects and drips straight down onto the pipe
