Custom puch head prototype

This is the HC dual combustion head that I'm currrently designing. All measurements are off so if something looks funny dont tell me about it becasue I all ready know. Remeber this is the first stage to my design, the final product may only resemble something like this. Dont hesitate to give me some constructive criticism tho :)

Re: Custom puch head prototype

Hey, I can venture a guess as to the purpose of a dual combustion head, but do you think you have any idea in specific what this would do? Also how compatible would it be with various setups? Looks good by the way, hope it ends up a reality.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

DIRECT QUOTE: "A cylinder head with more then one spark plug produces more regular firing at low revs, produces less "snatch" when the throttle is closed, and gives more power at high revs. High turbulence also produces "after mixing" of fuel and air, important since no carburettor gives a steady mixture over a very high rev. range. This turbulence "smoothes" the flame spread and speeds it up, esepecially with two plugs the mechanical effeciency shows improvement."

Re: Custom puch head prototype

should be sweet man. one question, is the stock Bosch coil going to give out enough power to give a good spark in both plugs, or are poeople going to have to run the bosch vw coils? how about splitting the spark plug wire.

nice job, cant wait to see the finished product.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

way to bust out the direct quote!!

here you go

Re: Custom puch head prototype

i'll probably need two coils, spark from one coil will take the path of least resistance, usually being only one of the plugs.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

i did post a pic...

Re: Custom puch head prototype

If you need anyone to test it out when its done I have a stock maxi luxe ;)

Re: Custom puch head prototype

*it'll not I'll

Re: Custom puch head prototype

i build my motor too /

waste of time.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

The combustion chamber is way off. It can't be flat. it needs to be rounded like the dome of the piston.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

I think he just has the dimensions of the combustion chambers off in the design.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

im stoked if its proven that it gives an increase in performance ill def. order one. you should make a bunch.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

nice, but i doubt it will give u that much more performance over a normal hc head. probably just make it run smoother and hotter.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

why would it run hotter? it wouldn't

Re: Custom puch head prototype

💀Kim Jong illest💀 /

you will absolutly have to run 2 coils for that to work. otherwise it will not make a differance. ever check under your hood? a coil for each plug. unless you have a distributer, but even then, one plug at a time. MAYBE with 2 coils it would work, but i think you would almost have to have a 12v cdi.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

12cdi off a tomos

Re: Custom puch head prototype

I dont care what anyone has to say about it good or bad. Think about how sweet its going to be to say, "Yeah I designed and milled my own dual combustion chamber head for my puch!" No one, I mean no one will give you crap for that, even if they do its only because they want what they cant have. Only two will ever be made, ever! Unless you really, really want one.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

what about some water cooled heads?

Re: Custom puch head prototype

where have you read up on this?

are you sure it says to have two separate combustion chambers? that sounds and looks wrong to me. i cant imagine having 2 spark plugs will make much of a difference either way but i think it would work better if they were both in a single combustion chamber. easier to make too!

Re: Custom puch head prototype

I'd move the sparkplugs more to the edges of the head, and make the "combustion" chambers less deep and more wide for a more even compression with higher pressure.

Furthermore, you'll need a squish edge, but you probably already knew that.

If you didn't, you might want to check out a 2-stroke tuning book and look what they have to say about head design. There are some formulas about shape and volume and how those affect the performance of the engine.

By the way, the general rule is that a twin-spark head only gives benefits when the bore exceeds 100mm or so, because the spark would have to travel long ways to get to the sides of the cylinder.

Not that that should stop you from trying this out. I think it's awesome you're trying to build something like this.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

idk i just figured, more kaboom = more heat, then again i was probably wrong

Re: Custom puch head prototype

That design won't work very well. If you made it one combustion chamber with two spark plug holes, and smoothed the chamber to the plugs so there aren't any sharp edges, it would work. I have a 123cc cylinder and head I'm trying to fit on an e50. It has dual spark plug holes. I'm not saying that you have a bad idea, I'm only saying that thats not the way they look when you take the head off a factory 2 plug head.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

do you have a pic of this stock dual plug head?

Re: Custom puch head prototype

sure. I'll post it up in the next few days. I don't have the head at home right now.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

Once again for anyone else that says, "That looks off," think twice before you comment because I already know. This is purly an idea for what may come.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

Sorta like this, but not quite.

Re: Custom puch head prototype

dang.
