Kitted E50 rattle

I've got an e50 with a metra 65 kit. It starts and runs fine or does it....

i get an odd internal rattle when shes moving. its not a consistant rattle but its pretty loud. When im riding just like normal not WOT just 3 quarters open. i can feel almost like a hesitation off and on off and on accompanying the rattle. what do you guys and girls think it could beeeee??

Re: Kitted E50 rattle

Piston hitting plug or head?

Re: Kitted E50 rattle

mmmm i think so dude i didnt think about that till you just said it.....you sir and a smart man. sooo next question. what could i use to space it out without having another gasket in my grasp. AUTOZONE exhaust gasket meterial??

Re: Kitted E50 rattle

yeah you can make your own

Re: Kitted E50 rattle

Rad i guess i know what im doing tonght:) thanks for the info gents i'll let ya know if it works.

Re: Kitted E50 rattle

um, pull the plug and see if there are contact marks first.

Re: Kitted E50 rattle

no contact marks on the plug, i havent taken the head off yet as i forgot my tools and im at work for the next 8 hrs.

Re: Kitted E50 rattle

by the way, if your piston was to hit your plug, it'd only hit ONE time (more than likely smashing the plug, closing the gap, losing all spark) I think you may have some bearing or clutch issues.

Re: Kitted E50 rattle

the clutch issue could be your friction material breaking off and rattling around in the clutch bell, sometimes causing a hesitation when it gets lodged.

i don't know, just a thought.

Re: Kitted E50 rattle

my rattled for a while then one day it stopped. and thats when i found out it was my connecting rod bearing was horrible bad makeing my piston over stroke both ways .. then a part of said bearing blew threw my transfer and into my squish band. fucked up alot of shit

Re: Kitted E50 rattle

O shit well i guess i better stop riding it till if fig it out dudes thanks for all the info

Re: Kitted E50 rattle

Detonation... Your fuel is getting ignited sometimes at incorrect times, maybe due to overcompression, or a too-hot plug. Probably knocks the piss out of your whole motor when you hear it. Try a colder plug maybe, or raise fuel octane so it doesn't ignite till lit properly.

I had that happen and I got a (very cold) B9 plug instead of the B6 that was in there, and it stopped. Try going only one number colder at a time till one works right, if carboning occurs, go a bit hotter again. Find the happy.

If hi grade gas works, it will and you'll notice, if it seems to have no effect, it _is_ having no effect, and is unnecessary. Premium isn't better gas, it is gas that is a little harder to ignite (and actually has a little less power potential, not more).

Check for piston clearance in the top end. Make sure that the piston isn't slapping up on anything in the head...like the head...
