Batavus Carb Swap

Ok, I know that is must be on here somewhere but I'm tired of searching. Which dellorto carbs fit directly on the Batavus M48 stock intake? I know that there are three sizes so which is the best for what and do they all fit?

Thanks.

Re: Batavus Carb Swap

Bump because this would be great info. I think Del 14:12?

Re: Batavus Carb Swap

14:12 its way to big, the vespa 13:13 i believe fits or maby it was the 12:12

Batavus Carb Swap

Ok so I just gave in and did a slightly more intense search and found a thread where they say the dellorto 13.13 is a direct fit. Then later on in the same thread some one says it's the 14.12 and it never gets cleared up So does anyone know for sure? I'm thinking the 13.13 but I wanna know for sure before I buy.

Re: Batavus Carb Swap

Yeah is this for sure?

Batavus Carb Swap

Ok, the 12.12 and 13.13 have the same 19 mm clamp on size so they both should fit. The only difference the choke and barrel size. There problem solved. But which to buy the 12.12 or the 13.13?

Re: Batavus Carb Swap

get the 13:13 the 12:14 is TOOOO LARGE i have one on my moped right now and it uses a 26mm or more OD intake

Re: Batavus Carb Swap

I got a little 2 dollar brass bushing at the plumbing supply store that makes the 14.12 bolt right up. I'll try to post pics once I'm home in a couple days...

Re: Batavus Carb Swap

Thanks. I've never used a dellorto on anything. Do the cables for a stock batavus work for the dellorto carb or do you need new cables?

Re: Batavus Carb Swap

The throttle slides farther on a dellorto, so you have to take a little bit of the housing off, but the cable end works just fine. Dellorto makes a "cable choke" model, but if you're using an old one someone has laying around, it probably will be the "lever choke" so you can just disconnect the choke lever.

I'd also suggest boring out that batavus intake, you can go to almost 14mm before the manifold starts to get weak.

Re: Batavus Carb Swap

Thanks alot man. So which would you recommend the 12.12,13.13 or 12.14? or doesn't it matter too much?

Re: Batavus Carb Swap

from what I've heard, if you don't feel like doing anything drastic or daring, you can get the Dellorto for Vespa mopeds and just slap it right on. The intake on a Batavus is less than 11mm though, so any carb upgrade without a new or modified intake manifold will be less effective, although it will probably leak a lot less than that encarwi you got now.

In short, you should really consider upgrading that crappy intake too. If you do, you could make something janky that works, or call the guys at MotionLeft, they make a custom one designed to fit the 15.15, which is an excellent versatile carb.

If you really just want to do the smallest amount of work, buy the vespa one. I'd definitely call a shop and talk to someone more knowledgeable about parts interchangeablity before I spent any money.
