AV10 Case: Polini vs. Stock

Tim Sandberg /

Sorry to add to the obnoxious av10 buzz right now..

Whats the consensus? There are probably so few who have had experience with both, so lets pray that tiny demographic steps forward. Elliot recommended the stock case on one of these threads.

Id be very interested to hear opinions as to which one is better and why.

And of course if you know of other av10 case makes, add those to the conversation.

Re: AV10 Case: Polini vs. Stock

cant say anything for the sock cases, but the polini is top notch. its pretty much totally rad. because of the way its casted you have to dremel out your stator to make it fit, but other than that it was pretty easy. just buy the bolts you need at the hardware store and bam! av10.

Re: AV10 Case: Polini vs. Stock

i build my motor too /

polini = bigger reed cage than you can ever get with a stock av10 setup.

Re: AV10 Case: Polini vs. Stock

Polini = much greater flow

Stock = still pretty damn good

Re: AV10 Case: Polini vs. Stock

I still want this break> They pop up on ebay.fr every once in a while, but usually are very expensive

Re: AV10 Case: Polini vs. Stock

ummm holy shit that thing is sick.

Re: AV10 Case: Polini vs. Stock

Jesse, those are about the most sick 'av10' cases ever! 20hp from a 50cc kit ran by a ~30mm carb, whats not to love? What sort of a crank fits in that beast?

Depending on the setup, the polini cases are really sick when matched with the right parts but I'd like to compare a built stock but ported case with the polini reeds go against a built polini case. The differences might be minimal with the level of performance parts still available (ie, nothing on par with the bidalot Gr3 case+cylinder).

weirdest cylinder+case setup I've ever seen:

Q

WOWOW thats not a moby bolt patttern for sure. looks sick!

Re: Q

the weirdest thing iv noticed about some of those cases is that the crank seems to be enclosed...you can see what i mean on these:

i can imagine it helps flow into the transfers but iv never seen it anywhere before, might be because of the direction that the reed valve enters an AV10 case?

Re: Q

although these cases look absolutely village you can see the crank "enclosure" on these too:

Re: Q

MAN - OH - MAN......

That Bidalot case is incredible. Good lord.

So...back to the Polini vs. stock.....yeah, the reed cage is just really, really small on the stock case. I've seen more than one issue with those.

Bigger is in fact better.

Re: Q

there are plenty of bolt on big reed setups for a stock case which would work too. but they will never be as big as the polini. and with the polini you can run Vforce 8 pedal setups.

Peters super 8 Petal Reeds he keeps bringing up...

peter, where? a link? You have mentioned these 8 petal V force reeds in several other posts. Goooooogling gets me to a long array of snowmobile accessories. Is there a way to read the part numbers or someting to find the correct size?

Re: Peters super 8 Petal Reeds he keeps bringing u

hint: Polini X5

Thanks, thats what i needed

I would have never thunk to put polini anything in my search. Thanks peter,

just one more quick question peter?

So ok I find the moto tassinari site, right place? Are none of them gonna have the same bolt pattern as the polini cage that came with my polini cases? or are they only using one stock shot for all the different applications they make these reeds for , Polaris, minarelli, polini, the four bolt patterns all seem to be the same, im confused?

Re: just one more quick question peter?

ugh... I do this for you but im surfing mobile..

Google search "vforce reed polini x5"

The first link takes you to a ebay store where you can buy the vforce reedcage for the polini x1, x3, and x5 dirtbikes. Direct bolt in. confirmed at kzoo when matt from the local Heros brought his x5.

Re: just one more quick question peter?

Sorry for pestering you peter.... thanks for the info, If I meet you at a rally some time I'll buy you a sixer... for real

Re: just one more quick question peter?

didnt mean to come off as pestered, happy to help.

Re: just one more quick question peter?

I bet those enclosed cranks are made to bump up crank case compression. I'd figure that they are not that risky to use for a short term race since air/fuel mix will be forced into the crank, but no way in hell would I run something like that for a long ralley ride.

Re: just one more quick question peter?

🇮🇹💦 Of the Loin /

yeah giraudo makes a nice enclosed crank case too.....

Re: just one more quick question peter?

why enclose them??? what about more atomization?

Re: just one more quick question peter?

i guess these manufacturers didnt think it was nessesary?

Re: just one more quick question peter?

🇮🇹💦 Of the Loin /

have you tried out anything giraudo makes peter?

i got distracted with vespa and puch and have not paid attention to le moby :(

Re: just one more quick question peter?

il vespa, das puch, le moby.

Re: just one more quick question peter?

i don't know shit.. haha just makin things up

Re: just one more quick question peter?

ummm so i have a noob question, but what is an enclosed crank case? all those cases look like any moby crank case to me (well obviously alot more bad ass)

also:

from the profile they look the same

but from the intake side the advantage of the polini case becomes obvious.

also here u can see the gilerdoni puch reed block fitting snuggly into the polini cases. and as peter mentioned above it is quite a common moto size.

Re: just one more quick question peter?

wait never mind i just realized that the only part that comes out the crank case is the con rod... doh

now why won't my pictures show??
