A guy on Tomos Mopeds Organization tried a lot of modifications, but did not go to the extent of putting a big bore kit on. He kept track of the improvement at each stage. He's got a summary of the results somewhere in the discussion above.
i have a 08 streetmate i boght in late 07, i work it in to the balls. i have a 28 tooth sprocket and a technigas pipe, it tops out at only 40. all my friends bloww by me with there LX's. reason being the streetmate is too heavy of a moped for that a55 motor. so besides boring it out you cant do much, there just not fast
mike mine is all stock. if i put on a after market pipe would this help me reach 40mph?
does anyone know of a 70cc kit for my tomos SM R
allot of people use the Airsal 65cc kit, or you could do the puch metra 80 kit and you would have to bore you engine case out.
which do you think would be better arrow? i dont know anything about mopeds. just got mine like a week ago?
i got a 70cc airsal i just might have to grind away a little material, not a big deal
So how fast is it running on flat ground?
30mph
Yeah my speed is around there. Idk man it all depends which one you think looks better.
what stops any a35 kit from fitting the a55?
exhaust port stuff?? reeds?
well if that was a response to what i said, here's my reresponse. as soon as you put on any a35 cylinder you basically eliminate the exhaust port and reeds being an issue, since they're both _on the cylinder_.
like.... if you think it's an issue that the a55 doesn't have that stuff, as soon as you get rid of the a55 cylinder the only thing really making it an a55 is the stator and electric start. you slap on an a35 cylinder and you have an a35 with electric start and possibly a restricted cdi.
you would of course need the a35 intake too.
umm. 1977 sells a bolt on a55 airsal kit. no mods necessary. we have like 5 or so in stock at the moment. use the same pipe, or use technigas or biturbo or whatever ya want.
28 gear is pretty tall for a SMR, you should put on a 22 rear sprocket, mine did about 38 stock, with the gear change. I think steve's mopeds sells a kit that can transform your A55 to an A35.
ive got some 22's for 5 bucks shipped.
BTW, if you do a gear change on a SMR, you need to drill the mounting holes for the gear a little larger. The SMR uses larger bolts to mount the gear. Just an FYI
