Bings SUCK

ok, so anyway, I seem to have my Newport with a MK65 up and running again, but the 15mm bing is really pissing me off. I don't want to buy a new carb, since I have jets from 52 - 92 for bings and I don't want to mess with an intake and new air filter etc... My problem is that I have an 84 jet that works great at WOT (hit 45mph yesterday) but I takes forever to get through the low-end with what feels like bogging and 4 stroking. I have 16x45 gearing, so that shouldn't be my problem. I am using the techno boss, which is high end, but I wouldn't think that is the issue. I have messed with the needle jet and the ring settings and can't get the 1/4 - 3/4 range to do work right. What am I missing?

Re: Bings SUCK

1 jet set up is not tunable as a 3 jet setup. Your always going to be lean or rich .. in that bing... just cant deliver

Re: Bings SUCK

air leak?

Re: Bings SUCK

I presume you have lowered the needle by raising the needle clip on the top of the needle?

Re: Bings SUCK

whoops I didn't read your situation through. You could try a smaller emusifier tube.

Re: Bings SUCK

i have a similar set up, MK65 on an e50 with the Techo proma? and a bing 15 with a 92 jet and hi flow filter. i dont have any problems with mine at all. i hit 49 at 3/4 throttle. my low end is fine check for air leaks.

Re: Bings SUCK

did you change your timing? i had zero low end on my tccd kit, and after advancing the timing it was a whole new bike.

Re: Bings SUCK

no air leaks. timing is still stock, but runs like a champ at full throttle. So I guess I should save my pennies and get a dellorto 19mm?

Re: Bings SUCK

why are you guys running such HUGE jets in such tiny carbs? I run a 74 on my unported mk65 with a estroil and 14 bing. My plug chops have been perfect brown

THe likely hood is your jetted way to high and your timing maybe to advance

Re: Bings SUCK

definitely check your timing. it sounds like the exact same problem i had when i kitted my bike. after i advanced the timing it was _way_ better.

Re: Bings SUCK

If you are bogging at low RPMs then it is not a carb issue. It could be an air leak, but most likely it is a timing issue. On my MK65 with a 19PHBG, i had poor bottom end until I advanced the timing, then it was great off the line.
