by the looks of the gearing and if the variotop is tuly working as an overdrive pully I would rough estimate the top speed at about 60mph or close to it, but with extream accelration.

Great looking bike Peter don;t know how I missed this thread for over 2 days. Dude those photos were shot with an iphone, did you use a tripod or something because they are really clear. Can't wait to see it in person or some better photos, the current ones only hint at how amazing that pain job looks. Cool looking projector! I love the one on my cyclops puch.

Ok, first of all I love this bike. It has actually inspired me to completely rebuild/kit out my ciao.
The only think I don't love is the seat. It's a personal preference. I'd like to do something like this for my ciao (stealing your pic).
Just an idea.

Here's the thing: Saddle seats are actually comfortable. Those "race" seats are not.

I could not agree more. My brooks saddle on the rigid is really comfortable, rode the whole LA rally with it and I am still able to walk.
only problem is at 10k rpm it has this annoying resonant frequency that vibrates the horn of the seat and in turn my nuts. Think i have that fixed though...

ethanol, I like your idea for the shock absorbing long seat, but I think it's only useful if your seat isn't padded. also, i'm a little skeptical with the placement of the shock. hey, ever seen an HS50 seat? those have minimal padding and lots of springs on the inside. like a cot. no need for a long-ass shock absorber. it feels kinda weird, though. make mine foam!

this bike was involved in a pretty serious accident today but it didnt sustain a lot of damage. I was not riding it at the time. It can be rebuilt.
